Hello! We are Kerguelen and Aaronantium.
Kerguelen was on the Con Com of the old ConneXions held in Baltimore and tried to revive it with ConneXions-South in Arlington, VA. Unfortunately, there weren't enough attendees to keep it going in-person so we switched everything to a group rather than an event and became DC-Slash.
Aaronantium is Kerguelen's con tech support, and fannish buddy. He vids, runs the Discord server for DC-Slash, and handles the tech side of the online convention.
Short answer: No.
Long answer:
Of course, DC Comics are A-OK to talk about in the group, a good majority of members will happily talk DC or Marvel Comics (because we're all nerds here).
However, our name actually comes from the location, and not the comics. Since DC-Slash originated out of Connexions-South, which was an in-person con located in the DC area, we rebranded to DC-Slash and did not think about the possible misinterpretations of the name.
July 25-27, 2025 via Zoom and Discord!
We're on Facebook, Dreamwidth, Tumblr, Twitter, and, of course, our DC-Slash Discord.
We do our online events on zoom, the links for different events can be found on their event pages.
Just before the pandemic, DC-Slash went virtual to organize our get-togethers. Aaronantium set up a discord, because he's Gen-Z and tends to overcommit.
Then pandemic struck, and now discord is our main spot to hang out and post information. Discord is host to a lot of fannish communities, and is great for hanging out in video calls or simply text-chatting with friends who like similar things!
If you need help with discord, we have a tutorial at the bottom of our main page, or you can reach out to us at dcmf.office@gmail.com and we'll do our best to help you get the best introduction to how discord works.
Currently, these are on hold, but we do have them occasionally.
Basically, a single fandom, or pairing if it is a big fandom, will be chosen and over the course of the week, we post fic and vid recommendations as well as basic info on it. Usually, this comes from Kerguelen or Aaronantium, but it is open to anyone who is willing to post at least 5-7 times about their fandom over the course of the week. Just contact Ker to request to do a week.
Vidders Chat is exactly what it sounds like. Once a week, a bunch of people interested in vidding (whether they make vids or not) get together online to hang out and talk about different topics. It's open to anyone who wants to join, regardless of vidding knowledge. It's run by Aaronantium, and if you want more information, it has its own page where it describes their topics and times.
Tatort is the fandom that took over Kerguelen during the pandemic. And it stuck.
It's a German police show that is very slashy. Kerguelen is translating and fan-subbing new episodes, and on Wednesday nights a group gets together to watch an episode.
Mainly we watch Tatort Münster, which follows a taciturn detective, Frank Thiel, and his medical examiner/landlord/nextdoor neighbor/pain-in-the-ass, Professor Karl-Friedrich Boerne, as they solve mysteries and bicker like an old married couple.
Tatort Wednesday has now branched out into other cities as well; however, so there's a good variety of protagonists to match your preferred style of slashy cop show.
